Why I Make Music With AI

I am not using AI to recreate what humans already know how to make.

I am using it to push music beyond the ordinary limits of human performance.

My goal is to create a sound that is unmistakably mine because it reaches emotional, vocal, tonal, and sonic territory that would be extraordinarily difficult, and sometimes practically impossible, to reproduce in exactly the same way through conventional performance alone.

I do not have to be the voice.

I build how the music is felt.

The voice is an instrument.
AI is an instrument.
I am the creative director.

I write and shape the lyrics. I build the emotional story. I direct the sound, the voice, the movement, the intensity, and the atmosphere. I generate, reject, revise, cut, reshape, and begin again until the music reaches the place I intended it to reach.

I am not trying to make AI sound more human.

I am trying to discover what music can become when technology is directed beyond what a human voice, a traditional instrument, or a conventional studio would normally be able to produce.

If the final result could simply have been made the same way without AI, then I have not pushed the medium far enough.

The purpose is not imitation.

The purpose is expansion.

I am building how it feels.

Out Now

AM I INSANE

When I was thinking about how to market this album, I wanted to market it with what the brain sometimes sees.

You look at the title. I'M I INSANE.

Your brain trips. You read it again. You question yourself. Did I read that wrong, am I seeing things, am I insane?

It is not that. You saw it right.

That is this album. Nine songs about the voice in your head that makes you doubt what you already know.

AM I INSANE, out now.
